Living your life healthy and happily is not so difficult. We need to change our attitude towards our life and make some rules for it. In a 9 to 6 private job we tend to be in strict discipline and follow our routine. However, when it comes to our personal life, we become a looser and forget all the disciplines. I am unable to understand, why this dual standards?

Today, in 21st century chronic diseases are spreading much faster than number of hospitals and doctors. There are many diseases which are still incurable like heart problem, diabetes, liver problem etc. Medical science has not found any solution yet.

Earlier, persons of elder age and above 50 were prone to these chronic ailments, but now even children and younger persons are falling victim. In today’s world, we are very much money centric and our only goal is to earn more and more money . In this process we ignore our health which is most vital for us. Yes, I also agree that money is very important to make our life comfortable, but it’s not more important than our health.

Ignoring your health may cost you everything that you can never get back. In short term, you will not see any significant difference but, after some years it will start reflecting in your life with lots of bad effects. “Health is Wealth”. This proverb is still relevant. If a person is healthy, he can do anything, achieve anything and keep him and his family happy. 

If you want healthy and happy life, you should make a daily routine. You should spare some time for your health and fitness. These are very simple steps following which will give you a healthy body and peaceful mind.

1.Wake up early morning:

Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy wealthy and wise”. Yes you should follow these lines. Go to the bed early night and leave your bed early in the morning. First time When you wake up early in the morning  you may feel lazy, but when it will form a habit, you start feeling very fresh.

Waking up between 5 to 6 A.M in the morning gives you 2 more hours in your schedule. You can follow your hobbies in the morning time, which you couldn’t follow otherwise. Start your day with small prayer, be thankful to your God for whatever he has provided you so far. And then, make a “to do” list for your day’s work.

2.Morning walk:

You should go to morning walk every morning. It balances blood circulation in body and it makes you fit and healthy. You will be less prone to diseases. This habit is a security guard and it protects our body from external threats.

The breeze in the morning is very calm and pure so when you get up early and breathe, you inhale fresh and clean air. It leaves very positive effects on your lungs and your heart. If you have any problem or any disease like, – Heart problem, Diabetes, Body pain and Joint pain etc. and you go for the treatment, the first advise doctor gives you is to do morning walk. If we have to start walking after getting unwell, why not start it today?

3.Drink water with honey:

After morning walk you should drink a glass of warm water with one big tsp. honey. It is very beneficial for your health. It reduces cholesterol and prevents fat to increase.

Benefits of honey are very well known. Even Chinese and Japanese people are now start using honey in their day to day life. Taking water with honey on empty stomach works as a cleanser which cleans our body of harmful toxins. Additionally, It honey gives a small boost of energy to us in morning time. That prevents us from resorting to fries and snacks to feed our hunger. I’ve been taking this since last 10 years and can see its direct benefits.

4.Yoga and Meditation:

I never miss yoga and exercise in my daily routine. Physical and mental both exercises are important for maintaining our health. If you are doing Yoga and meditation, you will never fall sick.

It makes body and mind more active. It improves blood circulation and reduces cholesterol. Meditation controls your mental pressure and your depression. Meditation makes you mentally and physically healthy and fit.

5.Limit the intake of tea and coffee:

Limit your tea, coffee and alcohol consumption. Tea and coffee have caffeine in them. Taking tea/coffee in empty stomach may stimulate acid creation and give you acidity problem.

Along with that tea causes dehydration in your body if you don’t take enough water intake, it will further complicate the issues. In worst case tea or coffee may cause Ulcer too. So, try to avoid tea/coffee as much as possible.

Alcohol affects very negatively on your liver. Although, some researches shows very mild good effects of Alcohol, but bad effects of Alcohol outweigh good effects. It may weaken your liver and digestive system. It affects your reproductive system also. Despite that, if you want to take alcohol occasionally, I would prefer ‘Red wine’.

On any auspicious or festive occasion, we see girls with their tempting smells, attractive attires, attentive attitudes and sparkling beauties. When many beauties gather at a time, an inside rivalry takes place. Which provoke them giving sarcastic remarks on their peers.

There are five mudslinging points which have been most common among girls.

Jealousy and envy are two common friends of girls. A girl doesn’t accept easily that her friend is more beautiful. If you don’t want to be embarrassed and making your presence more appealing, then put off your weight and follow a strict routine life.

Critics are your best friends; take their remarks on a positive note.

Cleansing is essential in all seasons, not only in winter. Chilly weather makes your skin dry; creates dead cells and black patches on your face. When the temperature starts going down, you need to start caring your skin up.

1. Natural cleansing:

Take 1 tbsp. of tomato juice and 1tbsp lemon juice. Mix it, put all around your face for 15 minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water. You will get back refreshing and flawless skin. It is far better than any branded cosmetic face wash.

2. Natural Scrubbing:

Scrubbing is also equally important, but in winters you need to avoid daily scrubbing.

1) Take 1/4 ripe banana and 1/4 Apple. Mash it in a blender, take 1 tsp. of honey and make a paste. Massage smoothly for 10 minutes on your face then rinse off.

2) If you are exhausted and don’t want to use mixture, then the best way to is to Mix honey with coffee; massage lightly for 10 minutes. You will get a sparkling beauty after that.

3) Grapes are natural scrub. You can directly use the grapes on your face and rub it all around your face lightly. This will make your skin soft and bright.

2) Take two tbsp. of oats and 2 tbsp. honey. Mix it properly and apply on your face for 10 minutes. Splash with lukewarm water. You will get a soft, smooth and glowing face.

3) Mix half messed banana with half cup of butter or skimmed milk cream. Put this mixture all over the face for 10 to 20 minutes and rinse with Luke warm water. It is a natural face mask and a healthier moisturizer for winter season.

4) Take 1 tbsp. of honey, 2 tbsp. yogurt and 1 tbsp. rose water. Mix all of the ingredients properly. Now apply this paste smoothly all over the face for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water.

Moisturizer is the most essential to keep your skin flawless in winters. Moisturize your skin several times in a day to reduce the dryness on your skin. There are many brands available in the market, which is very costly and not affordable for everybody.

TV serials are a waste of time

TV soaps are a very cheap source of entertainment for all of us. However, It impacts very negatively our lives. Let’s see how it affects our lifestyle and our thoughts…..

1. Waste of time — We watch TV serials which consume lots of time. In that time we don’t want to do anything else. We can utilize that precious time in other important works.

I will tell you a simple mathematics; suppose you watch only 2 serials per day; that counts to 365*2 = 730 episodes in one year Assume, one episode lasts for 30 minutes, it will be a whopping 730 hours of your precious time get wasted in serials. These 730 hours can be utilized in other ways, like learning some new hobbies, learning some foreign languages, doing computer classes, teaching your kids and loving your spouse (Kidding, haha)

2. Change of temperament — TV soaps are nothing but a bunch of villains and vamps conspiring against each other. Mother plotting against son, son plotting against his wife, mother-in-law making conspiracy against her daughter-in-law. What else! It is proved from scientific research that what we see and listen continuously affect our subconscious mind. We start following them unintentionally. We identify them kind of a role model. In actuality, there is nothing like role model. It all depends on situation and scenario.

Soaps affect our thought and temperament. This brings bitterness in the relationships. So, investing thousands of hours in a business and getting only bitterness in your life.

3. Addicted to TV — When unfortunately (say fortunately) we can’t watch our favorite TV soap, we become impatient. If someone calls us while we are watching serial, we don’t even bother to receive the call and gets irritated. We cannot concentrate on any other work; this is called TV addiction, a kind of obsession. I call it “SOAPOHOLISM”. TV serials are not one hour story that you watch and finish in one day. It keeps you glued to the TV for years. And, today’s serial makers are so clever (we should call them serial killer); their episodes end very abruptly and at very unpredicted twist. You always keep on guessing about next plot.

Too much TV

You can make yourself free of this addiction only by applying your will power. Just ignore few episodes and your curiosity to watch that soap will automatically cease.

4. Neglecting other works — Watching soaps means, investing hours of your valuable time in front of TV. That means, you will not be helping your kids in his homework, your will not be reading newspapers, you will not be doing any other social work that might help society.

Why on earth, do people watch these stupid shows, where “Saas and Bahus” are always fighting with each other and making cunning strategy against each other.

How I celebrated my Diwali

Diwali, the festival of light passes as fast as it comes. This year also, Diwali passed very quickly. Again, that boring 9 to 6 schedule will start and we will be busy in our daily life like a mechanical robot. I am unable to understand, why these festivals come to an end so quickly and why not we celebrate these every day?

This Diwali too, left us with a mixture of good and unpleasant memories. We have been waiting for the festival of light very patiently since last one year. Being a fan of Diwali, I was also waiting for the festival very desperately. Since, I am not staying with my parents; I was dying to meet them on this Diwali. Diwali gives us a chance of a sort of family reunion, when we celebrate together with our near and dear ones with lots of candles, sweets and off course crackers.

Now, The Diwali festival ends; I want to share with you some of my pleasant and not so pleasant memories. This Diwali marked a new beginning for me on several issues, I will explain later.

My Home

I travelled back to my mom’s home 500 km far away from here. I couldn’t stop my tears rolling down my checks, when I see my mom. Anyways, after the nostalgic Bollywood type “Milan”, I was ready for my next move. I reached my home 2 days before Diwali. Going home

Everyone else in my home was busy in cleaning and decoration work. I too provided a helping hand in those activities. Although very tiring, I enjoyed it a lot.

The Beginning

On the day of Dipawali, Mom prepared her signature dish “Gajar ka Halwa” and veg biryani. I can’t explain in words its divine and exquisite taste. Soooo yummy

After such a long time, we had a lunch without whole family. At the dining table, i was continuously thinking about how money centric our life has become now. We can’t even spare some moments with our family 😦

Anyways, our next plan was to go on for a shopping spree. We bought enough crackers, clothes for all family members and other useful stuffs.

In the evening, we were up for the traditional “Laxmi Puja” with all the rituals. How can we forget Goddess Laxmi Hmmm? i was draped in a glamorous red Georgette Sari. Other members were also attired in traditional dresses. After Puja and Aarti,, we lit the candles all around our house. It was such an awesome glittering scenery, really mindboggling for me.

The Firecrackers

Now, the time for firecrackers. Big shot, Atom bomb, Chocolate bomb, sparklers, rockets and many more. I hate crackers, filled with toxin and poisonous gases. Every year the quantum of air and noise pollution caused by the crackers increases by many fold. Firecrackers release gases such as sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide etc. in the air, which may cause problems like asthma and bronchitis. Despite numerous efforts by govt and NGOs, large number of population is still using firecrackers.

I was just a mute spectator of this light and smoke show, However, kids of our family were really enjoying this moment

The accident

One of my friends challenged me and said that I am too weak heart to fire a cracker (say Bomb). At his provocation, i challenged his offer to fire a bomb. Although, I was wearing a Sari which is not deemed suitable for this occasion, i got ready to accept the challenge. I took the bomb in my hand, put it at a distant place and start lighting it. Suddenly, someone played a prank and shouted from behind ”Run Khushbu run, Bomb is going to explode”. Listening this, I started running hastily without thinking anything.

As expected, I bumped into a wall and fell down almost breaking my hand. My head was about to crash into the wall. Ironically, I became a butt of jokes that evening. I learnt a lesson that day-

 

Never get provoked by someone’s words, always take wise decision, weighing first the pros and cons of the possible outcome.

 

The Closing

All’s Well That Ends Well. Good saying. My leaves are over now, packing by bags for the journey back to Pune. This Diwali was indeed very memorable, memory of that will be forever etched upon my heart.
